The medieval square in Ainsa dates back to the 12th century and is said to the oldest that retains its original features in Spain.
The church in Ainsa in honour of St. Maria was completed in the 11th century.
The castle in Ainsa with its 'Torre de Homenaje' is again from the 11th century.
The area around Ainsa with its steep mountainous terrain includes smaller hamlets named and features thus:
-Arcusa, with the remains of an 11c medieval castle and 'The Church of San Estaban' 16c. Fiestas are June 13 in honour of San Antonio de Padua.
-Arro, majestic houses making up unique street and square. 'The Church of Asuncion' 16c. 'The Hermitage Doloros' 17c. Spectacular views around this unique hamlet. Fiesta 13th August to their patron Saint Hipolito.
-Baneston, with its 16c 'Church of San Martin' and 'The Chapel of Nuestra Sonora de Villlarcilla', 16c
