On Saturday at midnight Altea will become a Mediterranean cultural hub. Thousands of people will be coming together by the beach or on board a boat to enjoy El Castell de L’Olla, a fascinating musical pyrotechnical display.

Some people camp on the beach, other lucky ones stay in local hotels, etc.It's well worth the effort which ever way you do it. These are life time memories. Spain is justly famous for its fireworks displays but the Altea festival surpasses all others.Altea town, seafront, harbour is well worth visiting at any time but this evening is something else.Get there early, enjoy a pleasant meal in one of the many sea front restaurants and bars and then sit back and marvel.
The best place to be is close to the beach of La Olla, on the Saturday night closest to the festivity of Sant Llorenç (St. Lawrence).
The crowds will be in excess 50,000 people, many of whom attend every year, to witness the display of light, gunpowder and music in a show that also features dance and other performing arts.
