Calpe Moors and Christians19th to 23rd October Spectacular fiestain Honour of Calpe Patron Saint Santísimo Cristo del SudorThe ships storm the beach, the defenders fight back, traditional dress, gunpowder, fireworks. Drums. Flags. Banners. Typical Spanish fishing village on the Costa Blanca celebrates its noble history. A lovely port and a great long beach.
The re-enactment of the Holy Mystery, the candle offering to the Holy Christ and the procession in honour of the saint patron accompanying the unmistakeable sound of the local music bands are some of the extraordinarily beautiful religious festivities that take place during the fair.
Fun, tradition and devotion make for an appealing mixture.
The intricate delicacy and beautiful colours of the clothes worn by mascarats, moriscos, tuaregs, Barbary corsairs, califach and Almoravids on the Moorish side and seamen, corsairs, templars, crusaders, smugglers, Mozarabs and Almogavars on the Christian side turn this festivity into a spectacular celebration culminating in a wonderful fireworks castle filled with light and colour.Back to October
