Fiestas of the Carnival of Águilas
Full of colour from the processions of masks, groups, the releasing of the 'la musona' and the 'egg battle' between the followers of Don Carnaval and Doña Cuaresma.

Although there are parades to the Mardi Gras, the big day is Sunday, when each troupe presents its new disguise. That night he also inaugurated the rocks, premises in which he will reign for three days of food, drink and good humor. The Saturday before the Sunday of carnival is held the opening speech and a costume contest paper. On Saturday the discourse takes place between Don Carnal and Doña Cuaresma just inevitably a war of confetti-filled eggs.

The Aguilas Carnival is a "people carnival" with a long history which has been celebrated for the last two centuries, with strong social and cultural elements.
This is a two-week "fiesta" which requires an entire year of hard work and preparation in which the entire population of Aguilas participates in one way or another.
The Aguilas Carnival is famous for its parades and, increasingly, as the "Night Carnival" in which most of the population dresses in costume and comes out to enjoy the Aguilas evening.
The Carnival's "fiestas", which are in and of themselves a tourist attraction, last for two weeks. On Saturday evening, after the battle between Don Carnal and Mrs.Cuaresma, and the triumph of the latter, the people's fiesta begins. The parades take place from Sunday to Tuesday, and continue on the following Saturday with participation from around the region. These parades, which include the participation of 4,000 people, floats, groups, and musical bands, take place in an atmosphere of revelry which affects the crowd and makes it part of the Carnival.
