 After the old  building was destroyed in 1596 the new Cadiz Cathedral was rebuilt in the styles of the baroque to the neo-classicist. The plant is of Latin cross with 3 ships, wide girola and lateral chapels.

Under the presbytery a crypt of flat vault gathers burials of bishops, as well as of the geat musician Manuel de Falla and the famous Spanish writer Jose María Pemán.
The old cathedral was built upon an ancient mosque under the orders of Alfonso X el Sabio.


Alongside this cathedral ' The Catedral Nuevo' was built between 1702 and 1838 in Greco Roman style.
Inside carved stalls which came from the Chartreuse at Sevilla. Staue of San Bruno, by Montanes, in the San Sebastian Chapel.
