Corral de Comedias Corral de Comedias TheatreAlmagro
This is the only 17th-century theatre preserved with its original structure
It was created as a comedy theatre and inn. It has both functions. The courtyard where the stage is situated is 300 square metres surrounded by 54 straight wooden footings with stone bases to prevent damp. It currently has capacity for 300 people and it is still used for dramatic performances within the International Festival of Classical Theatre.
Origin: 16th Century.
Period: 17th Century Almagro, declared a Historic-Artistic Site, lies in the county of Campo de Calatrava near Ciudad Real. The history of this town in La Mancha is closely linked to the history of the theatre, as you can appreciate in the Open Air Theatre, the National Theatre Museum and the International Festival held every year

Timetables: 1 April to 30 June and September, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm and 5-8pm. 1 July to 31 August, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm and 6-9pm. 1 October to 31 March, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm and 4-7pm. Sundays, 11am-2pm. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, dramatised tours. Closed: Mondays, 24, 25 and 31 December, and 1 January.
