Last residents of vancouver's cole road rest stop forced out as province clears site
The last two residents of Vancouver's Cole Road rest stop have been evicted as the province finalizes the cleanup of the encampment that once housed dozens of people in RVs. According to a Ministry of Housing spokesperson, all individuals sheltering at the site must vacate immediately.

Shut down due to vandalism and safety concerns
The provincial government began erecting yellow fencing around the site on Tuesday, as utilities like washrooms and power were shut down in November 2025 due to repeated vandalism and serious safety issues.
When asked about public safety incidents at the camp, Abbotsford police Sergeant Paul Walker said there were 17 files related to the site in 2024, five in 2025, and five so far this year.
Preston Mitchell, one of the final residents, expressed frustration over the lack of alternative options for those living in RVs.
