Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung past expectations, raking in an estimated $927 million at the global box office during its opening weekend. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) superhero film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, comfortably secured the biggest opening of the year so far.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Domestically, the film brought in an estimated $355 million from 4,487 theaters, while internationally, it earned $572 million. These numbers shattered records, marking the biggest opening ever for a Sony or Spider-Man movie. However, it still fell short of Marvel's Avengers: Endgame, which opened to $357.1 million domestically and a staggering $1.2 billion globally.

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day came in second on both domestic and global fronts, there's a catch – the box office calculations are still being tallied, and a small bump could potentially see Spidey take the domestic crown in the coming days.

Biggest Preview and Opening Day Sales

Regardless of its ranking, the film managed to eke out wins with the biggest preview sales of all time and the biggest opening day sales of all time.

With just shy of $1 billion at the global box office, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could very well be the biggest earner of the year by the time 2026 ends. Marvel is likely its biggest competitor, with Avengers: Doomsday set to hit theaters this December and potentially outperform the new Spidey film.

In the meantime, it's clear that movie fans were the real winners, as the 2026 July-to-August weekend saw the biggest collective domestic box office history, reaching $430 million across the films available.
