Airbnb expands private transfers to 125 cities – spain gets the vip treatment
Forget hailing a cab after a long flight. Airbnb is quietly reshaping the arrival experience, rolling out its private transfer service to over 125 cities spanning Europe, Asia, and Latin America—with a significant focus on Spain. The move signals a concerted effort by the hospitality giant to move beyond just bookings and into the realm of seamless travel logistics.

A pilot program proves popular
This isn't a sudden leap; it follows a successful pilot program launched in early 2026 across Europe and Asia, garnering an impressive 4.96 out of 5 star rating from travelers. That level of user satisfaction clearly incentivized a broader rollout, and now, the service is officially live across a significantly expanded network.
Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Málaga, and Valencia are the initial Spanish cities benefiting from this expansion. Travelers booking stays in these locales can now arrange a private car directly within the Airbnb app, streamlining the often-stressful airport or train station transfer. The convenience is palpable: no more frantic searches for taxis or navigating unfamiliar public transportation systems after a transatlantic journey.
“Airbnb Services are designed to elevate the traveler experience, and our collaboration with Welcome Pickups achieves that from the moment they arrive,” explained Stephenson, Chief Business Officer at Airbnb, in a recent statement. It’s a partnership that underscores Airbnb’s ambition to become a one-stop shop for all travel needs, a strategy increasingly vital in today's competitive landscape.
Booking the service is straightforward. After securing your accommodation, simply navigate to the “Trips” tab within the app. Options for both airport pickups (“meet & greet” with a personalized welcome) and drop-offs are readily available. Details can be modified directly within the app, giving users complete control. The initial foray in Spain is just the beginning; Airbnb intends to continue expanding the service within the country and beyond throughout 2026.
The real question now is whether this move positions Airbnb as a genuine contender in the broader transportation sector, or if it remains a supplementary amenity designed to enhance the core booking experience. Either way, for travelers heading to these key Spanish cities, a smoother arrival just became a reality.
