Arc raiders' bi-annual content updates spark debate among fans

Embark Studios has announced that it will only release two major content updates for Arc Raiders per year, a decision that has left fans divided on whether this strategy can sustain player engagement.

Next big update arrives in october

The studio revealed in a recent blog post that the next sizable update, Frozen Trail, will drop in October, introducing new locations, enemies, story expansions, and progression system tweaks.

Going forward, Embark plans to deliver major updates bi-annually, aiming to make each one impactful enough to genuinely alter how players experience the game. However, a dedicated live service team will still maintain the game with regular updates, balance fixes, and player events between these larger drops.

Some fans have voiced concerns that this infrequent content schedule may not be enough to keep Arc Raiders in the spotlight, particularly with the fast-paced nature of modern gaming. Comparisons to Fortnite's regular updates and Battlefield 6's recent shift towards more frequent content have been made.

Despite these worries, Arc Raiders still boasts a significant player base, with over 100,000 concurrent users on Steam. The game will continue to receive smaller updates to refine the experience between the bi-annual content releases.
