Bluey's big stage: beloved show gets theatrical, plus new episodes

Disney+ is doubling down on its most popular property: Bluey. The hit animated series, already a global phenomenon, is expanding its universe with a stage show adaptation and a wave of new shorts, ensuring the beloved pups remain firmly in the hearts of young viewers.

The Australian animated series, which previously topped global viewership charts in 2024, is getting a theatrical makeover. Bluey’s Big Play – The Stage Show, featuring live actors embodying the iconic characters – Bandit, Chilli, Bingo, and Bluey – will premiere on Disney+ on March 16. The show, penned by series creator Joe Brumm and musically orchestrated by Joff Bush’s renowned orchestra, promises a faithful adaptation, staying true to the show's heartwarming spirit.

This isn't all. Disney+ is also releasing 10 Bluey Minisodes on May 20. These bite-sized narratives, ranging from 1 to 3 minutes, offer educational activities and expand upon the characters' world. Titles include “Humpty Dumpty,” “Green Bottles,” and “Cinderella Make Mum Laugh.”

The series' continued success is undeniable. Bluey has amassed 45.2 billion minutes watched in the United States alone. This juggernaut has spurred further expansion, including a live stage show and a theatrical film slated for release on August 6, 2027. Disneyland's
