Brittany Mahomes Shares Remarkable Back Injury Recovery Journey
Kansas City Current co-owner Brittany Mahomes, known for her presence in Chiefs stadium suites and her fitness brand, revealed a challenging two-year recovery from a postpartum back injury.
Postpartum Fracture and Initial Warning
In March 2024, Mahomes shared a concise Instagram Story: "Just your daily reminder: Once you have kids please take care of your pelvic floor. Seriously," followed by "From: A girl with a fractured back." The message offered a quiet warning to other mothers about pelvic floor issues stemming from childbirth.

The Injury and Medical Explanation
The injury, attributed to pelvic floor problems after two pregnancies, was described by ob/gyn Dr. Yves-Richard Dole as "relatively uncommon." Weakened pelvic floor muscles, combined with insufficient recovery time, can lead to stress fractures in the spine due to shifting structural loads.

Rehabilitation and Progress
Mahomes underwent pelvic floor therapy, chiropractic care, and X-rays. By August 2024, while pregnant with her third child, she successfully performed her first back squat in over a year. Her fitness coach, Kristy Rae, documented her progress, noting a year and a half prior involved "severe pain and limited movement." By March 2026, she was able to deadlift again without pain, a significant milestone.
A Testament to Patience and Training
"Never thought I would see the day of doing (kinda heavy) deadlifts again with no pain. Man they felt good," Mahomes wrote, highlighting the incredible resilience of the human body when approached with patience and intentional training.
