Capcom teases resident evil: code veronica remake in re9

Resident Evil fans are convinced they've uncovered another hint at a Code Veronica remake, this time hidden in the newly-launched Resident Evil Requiem.

Using the game's photo mode, players have zoomed in on the Wrenwood Hotel's guest register, a prop that can be glimpsed in the early stages of the game on a reception desk.

Scanning down the list of names, Alyssa Ashcroft can be seen - as the hotel's final resident - but check further back and there's a mention of Veronica Galibardi.

Fans have taken this to be a further tease from Resident Evil developer Capcom at the franchise's next release, widely-expected to be a full remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

IGN previously verified that a new version of the game is indeed in development, with MP1st claiming it currently sits with a Q1 2027 launch window.

However, there may be more going on here than meets the eye. Veronica Galibardi is actually a real person connected to the franchise, a voice actress who provided background vocal work on Resident Evil Village and assisted with Requiem's Italian localization.

Still, it's hard not to imagine Capcom wouldn't expect this name to also be taken as a Code Veronica tease.

And, of course, there's at least one other Veronica reference that fans have found already - the bottle of liquor labelled 'Avernico' in the Rhodes Hill center's bar. Avernico is not a real drink, though it is an anagram of Veronica.
