CD Projekt Red Confirms Witcher 4 Will Still Feature Physical Collector's Edition Despite Sony's Disc Halt
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 4 will still include a physical collector’s edition, even after Sony discontinues production of physical PlayStation discs in January 2028.

Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski Addresses Sony’s Decision
Studio joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski stated during an interview with The Game Business that CD Projekt Red retains the ability to create a special experience for collectors despite lacking control over Sony’s manufacturing decisions. “We don’t know what’s going to be the case,” Nowakowski said. “We know what PlayStation has announced. And we have no influence on the policies of the first parties. The discs for the first parties, including PlayStation, have to be manufactured in their own factories. So, if they stop manufacturing indeed by 2028, then yes [we won’t have a disc].”
Sony announced in July that it would end production of physical PlayStation games starting January 2028, a move that impacts titles like The Witcher 4, initially slated for a 2028 release.
Despite the shift, CD Projekt Red intends to provide a special collector’s package. “But we’re big fans of people having access to tangible collectible things,” Nowakowski added. “We’re nerds ourselves, and we like that. We always supported that. So, whatever is the case, we’re going to be for sure having a box. We’re going to have a box that’s going to have some feelies in it. Something you’re going to be wanting to open up and enjoy.”
CD Projekt Red has historically included extensive bonus content with its physical releases, such as stickers, maps, and developer letters.
