Crystal dynamics shrinks tomb raider team by 20 after third layoff wave this year
Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the Tomb Raider franchise, is downsizing for the fourth time in 12 months, cutting 20 jobs from its workforce.

Studio remains committed to lara croft games despite layoffs
In a LinkedIn post, the studio acknowledged the reductions, stating that the moves were necessary to align its team structures with long-term goals. The impacted employees will receive severance and job placement assistance.
Crystal Dynamics previously laid off an unknown number of workers in August following the cancellation of Perfect Dark by Xbox, which the studio had been supporting. Since its 2022 acquisition by Embracer, the studio has endured three separate layoff rounds in March, August, and November 2025, in addition to 10 job cuts in 2023.
Despite the cuts, Crystal Dynamics emphasized its commitment to the future of the Tomb Raider franchise, with two announced titles in development: a remake of the original 1996 Tomb Raider and a brand new game, both published by Amazon Game Studios.
