Dc studios developing mr. terrific tv series

DC Studios is reportedly working on a live-action TV series centered around Superman side character Tobias 'Mr. Terrific' Whitmore, according to a recent Hollywood Reporter story. The news comes amidst the turmoil surrounding last week's troubled comic book film, Supergirl, which underperformed at the box office.

Mr. Terrific, a genius inventor and crime-fighter, first appeared on the big screen in the 2023 DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Superman, played by Edi Gathegi. Details about the upcoming TV series are scarce, but it is confirmed that Gathegi will reprise his role as the character.

DC Studios has tapped Allan Heinberg to helm the project, bringing with him his experience as a showrunner and writer on Netflix's The Sandman series, as well as his work on Wonder Woman and multiple episodes of The O.C. and Grey's Anatomy.

The DC Universe, despite recent setbacks, seems poised for a brighter future. Lanterns, a Green Lantern TV series, is set to premiere in August, followed by the October release of the Batman spin-off Clayface. Man of Tomorrow, a proper Superman sequel, is scheduled for July 2024 release, with Gathegi expected to return.
