Diablo 4 Director Assures Fans of Continued Support Despite Diablo 5 Announcement

Following the announcement of Diablo 5 at Blizzcon 2026, the director of Diablo 4, Brent Gibson, has reassured fans that the game will continue to receive support even after its successor launches. The reveal of a new installment sparked concerns about the lifespan of Diablo 4, which was released in 2023.

Future Content Plans for Diablo 4

Speaking with Icy Veins, Gibson emphasized that Diablo 4 is part of a larger “universe,” not just a series of standalone games. He used an analogy of a sign proclaiming “The end is nigh” in Times Square, stating that it doesn't mean the end is actually near. Gibson highlighted upcoming content, including the addition of the Amazon class in the first half of 2027.

He noted that Blizzard plans to continue supporting seasons for Diablo 4 “as long as the community continues to show up,” drawing parallels to the ongoing support for Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.

Diablo 5 director Joe Shely and production director Tiffany Wat echoed Gibson’s sentiment, confirming that Diablo 4 remains “fully supported by the team.” They announced the Amazon class, the Season of Hell's legacy, and Diablo 4’s arrival on Switch 2, further demonstrating the ongoing commitment to the title. Wat emphasized the collaborative opportunities between dedicated teams for each game, highlighting the importance of both titles and their communities.
