'If they're going to get rid of physical packages, they may as well eliminate the hardware too,' he added. 'A television would be enough.' This scathing critique comes as Sony faces a growing backlash from fans who value the tactile experience of physical games.

While Sony claims its decision follows consumer trends towards digital, Niikawa's blunt assessment underscores the importance of physical media to many gamers. The company's move raises concerns about game ownership and preservation in an all-digital future.
