Expedition 33 devs face embarrassing consequences after underestimating game's success
Game developer Clair Obscur recently released Expedition 33 to widespread critical acclaim and commercial success, leaving the team in a state of shock. Despite the game's impressive 92 critic score on Metacritic and 9.5 user score, the developers thought they were on the hook for a much lower score.

A series of embarrassing bets
According to writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, the team made a number of silly bets on the game's metascore, all of which they lost. These bets included dares like getting tattoos, dying hair pink, and even eating a whole roast chicken in one sitting.
One developer, Svedberg-Yen revealed, had to do stand-up comedy as punishment for underestimating the game's popularity.
While the team initially underestimated their success, Svedberg-Yen emphasized that the game's financial security now means they can focus on creating more content without worrying about the studio's future.
