Fortnite goes wild with april fools' day update
Fortnite delivered a surprise update today, just in time for April Fool's Day. The game's first major patch since last month's devastating layoffs, which left over 1,000 Epic Games staff out of work, is comedic yet sizable — and it's only here for 24 hours.

April fools' additions now live
Players can now wield finger guns, with their characters making hand gestures at enemies for damage. Additionally, big heads reminiscent of classic cheat codes are available, and developer Epic Games admits they struggled implementing these on slender characters like Peely the banana man, who now sports a Cuddle Team Leader mask.
Shoulder riding has also been introduced as a new mechanic, allowing teammates to shoot while riding each other's backs. Players have discovered that multiple players can even stack on top of one another, with the limit yet unknown.
Fall damage has been removed, replaced with a 'splat' sound effect upon landing. And to top it all off, ridable llamas have been added for players to trot around on.
While this type of update might not be typical for other games, it's just another day in the world of Fortnite. All of the above features will be available until 5:30 AM Eastern tomorrow, April 2.
