Garmin unveils major firmware update with scores of new features

In a surprise move, Garmin has rolled out a substantial software update for several of its high-end wearables, packed with a multitude of new features and improvements.

The update, which first landed in the beta channel, is now live for Garmin Fénix 8 AMOLED, Fénix 8 Solar, Enduro 3, Quatix 8, and Fenix E models. Owners of these devices can expect a slew of welcome enhancements.

Key additions include the ability to activate LTE in power-saving activity modes, greatly enhancing control over device performance. Navigation has also been refined, seamlessly guiding users to their most recent mapped location.

The update also introduces read receipts for in-app Messenger messages, a significant security boost. Silent mode has been made more accessible, and the battery manager app now boasts enhanced functionality and greater user-friendliness.

Long-standing issues, such as excessive battery drain from the smartwatch assistant and app crashes after using WhatsApp, have been addressed and resolved.
