GTA 6 Fans 3D-Printing Collector's Edition Items Amidst Price Concerns
Fans of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 are circumventing the $400 Collector’s edition by 3D-printing replicas of items included in the bundle, offering a significantly cheaper alternative.
Rockstar’s $400 Collector’s Edition Doesn’t Include the Game
Rockstar Games revealed the $400 collector’s edition on September 24th, but it notably excludes the game itself. Instead, the package contains branded merchandise, including a cartoon alligator figure, stickers, pins, a hat, and Oakley sunglasses – representing the bulk of the cost.

3D Printing Replicas Sparks Debate
Despite the inability to directly copy the merchandise, fans are 3D printing reproductions of items like a recreation of the game’s Macca the Alligator mascot. This creation has been uploaded as a printable file, allowing fans to support the creator for a minimal fee.
Mixed Reactions to the Workaround
The practice has generated a divided response within the gaming community. Some applaud the creative solution to the high price, while others criticize it for diminishing the value of a rare item. “Why would you print it if it already lost its main and only purpose, which is rarity?” one user questioned on X/Twitter. Others expressed disappointment with the collector’s edition’s price, comparing it unfavorably to the $100 Red Dead Redemption 2 collector’s edition, which included a physical map.
Shift Towards Digital-Only Raises Concerns
The lack of a physical disc in the GTA 6 collector’s edition further fuels gamer frustration, particularly as Sony plans to discontinue physical game discs by January 2028. The ‘physical’ version of GTA 6 is essentially a case with a downloadable code.
