Invincible vs: conquest joins roster, beta details emerge

Skybound Entertainment and Quarter Up have locked in Conquest as the final playable character for the initial launch roster of Invincible VS, their upcoming 3v3 tag fighting game. The news arrives alongside concrete details about an open beta, promising a taste of the action before the April 30th release.

A brutal addition: conquest's viltrumite might

Conquest, a name instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with the Prime Video adaptation, represents the apex of Viltrumite brutality. He’s not interested in diplomacy or protocol; Conquest’s sole motivation is inflicting pain and dominating opponents. The developers highlight his designation as the “nuclear option” – a last resort deployed when the Viltrumite Empire needs a planet subdued with unsettling efficiency. This ruthlessness, however, is laced with a profound loneliness, a vulnerability that adds a layer of complexity to his otherwise destructive persona.

Gameplay-wise, Conquest functions as a ‘Striker,’ specializing in overwhelming pressure and raw power. His signature move, a charging punch, gains both speed and near-impenetrable armor as it travels, forcing opponents to time their defenses carefully. Mastering this mechanic will be key to utilizing Conquest effectively in the chaotic tag-team battles.

Open beta & dlc roadmap revealed

Open beta & dlc roadmap revealed

The open beta, running from April 9th to 11th, will provide console players with an early look at Invincible VS. Three modes – Tutorial, Practice, and Ranked – will be available, and all participants will receive a bonus Omni-Man skin as a thank you. Beyond the beta, Quarter Up has confirmed the arrival of two additional DLC characters: Universa and the Immortal, both slated to join the fray this summer.

Launch roster & notable absences

The complete launch roster now comprises 18 characters: Mark Grayson (Invincible), Thula Bulletproof, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Omni-Man, Battle Beast, Cecil Stedman, Robot, Monster Girl, Anissa Lucan, Powerplex, Dupli-Kate, Allen the Alien, Titan, Ella Mental, Conquest, and Lucan.

But the absence of certain fan favorites is already generating discussion. Angstrom Levy’s omission is particularly noticeable, as is the lack of the Mauler Twins. Shrinking Rae, Darkwing, and Shapesmith are also missing from the initial lineup. The developers suggest further DLC releases will expand the roster, so all isn't lost for those hoping to see a wider range of characters from the Invincible universe.

The open beta features 10 characters across six arenas: Hometown Invasion (Night), The Moon, Ka-Hor’s Tomb (Day), Himalayas, Kinetic Chamber, and Training Room. Invincible VS arrives on April 30, 2026, for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

A viltrumite skew?

While the visual style and fighting mechanics show promise, the initial roster leans rather heavily on Viltrumite characters, leaving some wondering if the game’s balance will be affected. Only time will tell if this focus translates into engaging gameplay or an imbalance of power.

The beta is the crucial test.
