Lego finally delivers fan demanded mario minifigure

After years of waiting, LEGO is finally giving fans the Mario minifigure they've desired. The toy giant revealed a first look at the Mario figure on Instagram, showcasing the plastic plumber leaping out of a warp pipe. The design features a new mold for Mario's head, with his cap, sideburns, nose and mustache all part of its shape, rather than simply printed on.

Lego listens to fan calls for proper mushroom kingdom minifigures

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans thrilled to see the iconic character receive the detailed treatment they've long sought. While LEGO has featured Super Mario sets for years, its primary range has previously focused on larger electronic toys and simpler builds, leaving minifigures to its younger-focused Duplo line.

Exactly when and where Mario will debut is still to be announced, but LEGO has confirmed the design will arrive sometime in 2027. Given the company's history, a Princess Peach's castle with Mario, Luigi and Peach seems a safe bet for the first sets to feature the new minifigure. Alternatively, the design could also be part of LEGO's Smart Play range, which infuses some sets with interactive elements.
