Marvel Teases Ultron's Return in VisionQuest Series

A special teaser for the upcoming Disney+ series VisionQuest, starring Paul Bettany as Vision, has given fans a first look at James Spader reprising his role as Ultron. The reveal came in the form of a glitching TV screen at the Anaheim Convention Center during D23, showing brief flashes of the robotic villain alongside an image of the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond.

The artwork depicts Hammond engulfed in flames, a nod to his appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as an Easter egg in Captain America: The First Avenger. Hammond, also known as 'Synthetic Man,' was part of the original Avengers alongside Captain America, Bucky Barnes, and Namor.

The screen also showed a glimpse of White Vision, played by Paul Bettany, holding an edition of the fictional newspaper "Vision Today." The headline discusses weather warnings, while a secondary headline appears to be about a jewel thief continuing a string of supposed crimes.

Ultron's return was confirmed by VisionQuest creator Terry Matalas, who described the show as "a delivery system for Bettany and Spader." Matalas explained that fans can expect to see both robot Ultron and James Spader's unique portrayal of the character. He also emphasized the core dynamic between Bettany's Vision and Spader's Ultron, likening it to a man experiencing an identity crisis.

VisionQuest is set to premiere on October 14, 2026, and promises to explore the Marvel AIs, with Paul Bettany and James Spader at the forefront. The highly-anticipated series is the conclusion of the WandaVision trilogy.
