Movistar is urging customers to upgrade their decoders to 4K UHD models as older devices will become obsolete on June 1st.

Movistar has begun sending automated notifications to customers with outdated decoders, warning them that these devices will cease to function after the cutoff date.

Models marked as 'TV' on the top without the 'UHD' label are no longer compatible with the operator's services.

Users can identify UHD-compatible devices by the 'UHD TV' label on the top of the decoder.

Models affected by the change include the Arris VIP1143 and VIP1113 HD decoders.

On the bright side, customers with outdated devices can request a free UHD decoder replacement from Movistar.

The UHD decoders currently available include the Arris VIP5242, VIP5242v2, HUMAX PTT1000 ES, and VIP5342, with some models also offering smart Wi-Fi capabilities.

Movistar is offering the UHD decoders at no additional cost to affected customers, with installation fees applying to some models.

This change aims to bring customers' viewing experiences in line with the increasing availability of 4K content across various platforms.
