Nathan fillion's big firefly tease revealed as animated series

Firefly fans, rejoice! Nathan Fillion has finally spilled the beans on his tantalizing social media hints. The actor, who plays Captain Mal Reynolds, announced that the beloved sci-fi series is getting an animated revival.

Animated series set between original and serenity

During a panel at Awesome Con in Washington D.C., Fillion revealed that the new show will take place between the original live-action series and 2005's Serenity film. The voice cast will include many of the original actors, including Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, and Adam Baldwin.

However, there's a catch. While a showrunning team has been assembled and a script for the first episode is complete, the series is not a done deal just yet. Deadline reports that it will be pitched to buyers, with Firefly creator Joss Whedon not involved in the project.

Fillion took to social media to mobilize support for the series, urging fans to like, comment, and share a post to help convince potential buyers of its worth. The pilot episode, titled 'Athenis,' has even been shared, revealing a glimpse of the script. The episode label '201' suggests this animated series will essentially serve as Firefly's second season.

Firefly originally aired on Fox from 2002 to 2003 before being canceled, but its cult following and 2005 film continuation have made it a cherished franchise. With Fillion, Marc Guggenheim, and Tara Butters on board, this animated revival has the potential to reignite the passion and excitement for the Firefly universe.
