Nintendo unveils 'yoshi and the mysterious book' trailer and may release date

Nintendo has dropped a major announcement for Yoshi fans, unveiling a new trailer and release date for the upcoming sidescrolling platformer 'Yoshi and the Mysterious Book'. The game, exclusive to the Switch 2, will arrive on May 21st.

Yoshi's next adventure

The trailer showcases Yoshi's signature elastic tongue in action as he explores the pages of a mysterious book, swallowing and then spitting out various creatures for further observation. One lucky frog even gets to blow bubbles for Yoshi to hop into and ride, leading to some quick platforming action.

As players progress through the game, they'll unlock new environments and a menagerie of curious creatures to research and name themselves. And in a surprise twist, Bowser Jr. will apparently be getting in on the action as well.

Super mario galaxy movie casting updates

Yesterday's Nintendo Direct also confirmed Donald Glover as the voice of Yoshi for the upcoming 'Super Mario Galaxy' movie, joining previously announced Luis Guzmán as Wart and Issa Rae as Honey Hive Galaxy's Honey Queen. Fans got their first decent look at the film's footage, as well, showing Bowser Jr. starting his own miniature reign of terror.
