Police received a call around 7:15pm local time about a person wielding a knife at the store in Tokyo's Ikebukuro ward. The suspect, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, approached the counter and attacked the female clerk with a knife. In a grim twist, he then stabbed himself in the neck.

Despite the swift response of paramedics, both the store employee and the perpetrator died from their wounds. The local police are currently investigating the motive behind the attack.
