Capcom's Resident Evil 9: Requiem has made history by becoming one of the fastest-selling games of 2026, with over 6 million units shipped worldwide since its release. The success has sent the Japanese developer reeling with a cash windfall, and the accolades keep rolling in. According to Mat Piscatella, a Circana analyst, the game has dominated the US market in February, outselling even its own predecessor, Resident Evil 8: Village, in the same time frame.

Piscatella's report, which only accounts for data up to the end of February, notes that Requiem's sales have surged by over 60% compared to Village's debut week. When adjusted for bundles, the difference jumps to a staggering 40%.

The game's strong performance is just the beginning, however. Capcom has confirmed that its teams are hard at work on the first DLC, with more content planned for post-launch updates. These will include stability improvements, a photo mode, and new playable features.
