Robert Bogue, GTA 5 Actor, Expresses Disappointment Over Lack of Role in GTA 6

Actor Robert Bogue, known for portraying FIB agent Steve Haines in Grand Theft Auto 5, has revealed he auditioned for over 60 roles in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 but was ultimately overlooked by Rockstar Games.

Bogue's Audition Experience

The information originated from a direct message exchange between Bogue and X user Burak on Instagram. Bogue expressed his disappointment, stating, "I'm a little bit down on Rockstar right now," and that he "so badly wanted to work on GTA 6." Despite auditioning for numerous roles, both large and small, he received no callbacks.

Bogue speculated that Rockstar might have a policy against reusing actors, questioning why he would be rejected so many times even for minor parts. He likened his experience to being “dumped” by someone he admired.

Past Roles and Rockstar's History with Actors

Bogue has a history with Rockstar, having previously appeared as Red Harlow in Red Dead Revolver, Troy in Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony, and Steve Haines in Grand Theft Auto 5. While Rockstar has sometimes reused actors, such as Ned Luke (who appeared in both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, though his lines were reportedly cut), Bogue’s case highlights a potential disconnect.

Rockstar has faced similar issues with actors in the past. Michael Hollick, the actor who voiced Niko Bellic in Grand Theft Auto 4, publicly complained about being underpaid and not receiving royalties despite the game's commercial success, leading to his character's absence from Grand Theft Auto 5. Ray Liotta also expressed concerns about compensation for his work in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Current Relationships and Future Prospects

In recent years, Rockstar's relationships with actors like Roger Clark, Ned Luke, and Shawn Fonteno have appeared more positive, with those actors sharing favorable experiences. Fonteno and Luke have even reprised their GTA 5 roles in updates for GTA Online.

While Bogue's frustration stems from being “ghosted” and not receiving official rejections, it's unlikely he'll reappear in GTA 6, as his character, Steve Haines, meets his demise in one of the game’s endings widely considered to be the canon one.
