Samson aims high with open-world action
Samson, an upcoming open-world action game from Liquid Swords, is drawing comparisons to the iconic Grand Theft Auto series. While the studio acknowledges the similarities, they're clear on their distinct goals.
Sundberg on competing with rockstar
Christofer Sundberg, co-founder of Liquid Swords and creative director of the Just Cause series, recently spoke with PC Gamer about the comparisons. 'I think it's impossible to compete with Rockstar,' he said bluntly. 'They're a phenomenon that goes beyond just games. They compete with everything in the Entertainmentindustry.'
Sundberg has immense respect for Rockstar's influence on the gaming world, likening their impact to a new iPhone launch – an event that captivates the masses, even those not typically gamers. 'It's like Christmas for everyone,' he explained.

A different kind of experience
So, what sets Samson apart from GTA? Sundberg sees it as a chance to offer a different kind of experience, akin to the 90-minute films of old. 'There are moments when you want to put GTA aside and play something else,' he noted. 'I want Samson to be that alternative.'
With a focus on action, combat, and driving inspired by both GTA and Mad Max, Samson invites players to take on the role of a protagonist completing missions in illegal contexts to pay off a growing debt. The game boasts interesting mechanics, such as AI police that learn from each robbery and realistic vehicle handling.
