Sony cleans up ps store with more shovelware removals

Sony continues its mission to declutter the PlayStation Store by targeting another publisher accused of peddling low-quality games.

Developer Webnetic announced on social media that it will be ending its presence on the PlayStation platform, effective immediately. The publisher, responsible for multiple titles including The Golden Age and The Copper Age, thanked fans for their support before directing them to other platforms like Xbox, Nintendo, and Steam to continue playing its games.

The move comes after Sony's efforts to purge the store of 'shovelware' – cheap, exploitative games that flood the digital shelves. In recent months, Sony has removed hundreds of games from publishers like ThiGames, GoGame Console, VRCForge Studios, and Welding Byte.

With a catalog of 1,274 titles, Webnetic is the fourth most prolific publisher on the PS Store according to TrueTrophies. Its games will likely be replaced with more quality offerings as Sony seeks to improve the user experience on its digital storefront.
