Tainted grail's april fools' joke turns into real expansion

Polish RPG studio Questline had gamers reeling this week with a convincing April Fools' joke, only to surprise them with a real and free expansion just 24 hours later.

April's deception turns to delight

Questline teased a fake DLC trailer for their hit title Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, sparking excitement among fans, who eagerly awaited the supposed new content. The joke, featuring a mysterious new character named Qrko, was so convincing that many players took to social media to express their disappointment-turned-longing for the non-existent add-on.

However, the studio pulled the wool off fans' eyes on April 2nd with a stunning announcement: Merlin's Tomb, a new high-level expansion originally due out in late March, would indeed be released – free of charge – albeit with a small delay.

Designed as a challenging endgame dungeon, Merlin's Tomb requires players to have collected all the fragments of King Arthur's Soul and reach level 75 or higher. Even then, they'll face formidable enemies and a powerful mini-boss guarding the entrance, the Tomb Guardian.

Alongside this major update, Questline also rolled out version 1.21 of the game, which overhauls key gameplay systems, introduces new weapons, improves existing ones, and adds treasure chests, resources, and customizable armor sets to the mix.

To top it all off, the devs have polished the semi-open world with visual enhancements and subtle details like new sound effects.
