The walking dead's future hinges on a potential crossover
The fate of The Walking Dead franchise remains uncertain beyond next year, as fans eagerly await the conclusion of its various storylines. While the upcoming fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to premiere this year, and a third installment of The Walking Dead: Dead City is scheduled for 2027, there's a burning question on everyone's mind - including creator Robert Kirkman's.

Could a massive crossover event reunite the franchise's stars?
Three years ago, the franchise's content director Scott M. Gimple floated the idea of a cinematic crossover that would bring together all the main characters from across The Walking Dead universe, similar to Avengers: Endgame's monumental Marvel team-up. The concept thrilled both fans and Kirkman, who expressed his enthusiasm for the idea, saying it would be an internal dream come true.
However, Kirkman also acknowledged the enormous logistical challenge such a project would entail, given the various commitments and schedules of the franchise's many stars.
