Title: Kit Harington Rules Out Return as Black Knight in Marvel Cinematic Univer

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has dashed hopes of his Marvel character Dane Whitman, aka Black Knight, making a comeback in the MCU. Harington joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2021 sci-fi blockbuster Eternals, alongside an all-star cast. However, despite the film's end credits promising a return for the superhero team, there has been no mention of the characters since, following Eternals' poor critical and commercial reception. Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed in 2022 that there are currently no plans for an Eternals sequel, and no updates have surfaced since.

Fans have long held onto the possibility of Harington reprising his role, either in a full sequel or another project. Some have speculated about a potential Midnight Sons team-up movie, which could feature Harington alongside Ryan Gosling's Ghost Rider and Mahershala Ali's Blade. However, in a recent interview with Movie Web, Harington expressed his disappointment, stating he was not aware of any invitation to return to the Marvel universe. "I'd love to [return]," he said. "I don't think there's any plan to. I hate to break it to you. I think he's a wicked character. But we'll see, I don't know if there's any plan."

Marvel has its upcoming slate mapped out, with Avengers: Doomsday in December and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, followed by the start of a new phase featuring X-Men, Ghost Rider, and Black Panther 3. As for Harington, he has recently been confirmed to play Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO's Harry Potter series, replacing Nicholas Hoult.
