Windrose's pirate survival demo sets sail with 93% positive feedback

Windrose, an upcoming open-world survival game with pirate themes, has made a splash with its demo release in February, garnering a staggering 93% positive review rate. This early success has drawn in tens of thousands of players, prompting the development team to roll up their sleeves and implement key features based directly on community feedback.

According to Windrose Crew, more than 1.5 million users have added the game to their Steam wishlists, a figure that underscores the immense interest in this pirate-infused open world. The demo itself has been played by over 800,000 users on Steam, racking up nearly 8,000 reviews with a strikingly positive rating.

Despite being an early success, particularly considering the game is still without a confirmed launch window, Windrose Crew has wasted no time in implementing many of the improvements requested by players. Notable additions include the ability to use cannons individually during combat, expanding the cooperative mode to eight players, and introducing a randomized loot system.

The team is also working on new mechanics, such as the possibility of signaling fires to attract other players, more authentic pirate-themed sea shanties, and systems for disassembling objects and reclaiming materials. On a technical front, they plan to incorporate DLSS and FSR technologies – details on specific versions remain unclear – to improve performance across various hardware configurations.
