Disney delivers release dates for lilo & stitch 2, incredibles 3 – 2028 in sight
Disney shareholders received a significant roadmap for the future during the annual meeting today, announcing theatrical release dates for long-awaited sequels: Lilo & Stitch 2 is set to hit theaters on May 26, 2028, followed closely by Incredibles 3 on June 16, 2028. While details remained scarce, the firm dates offer a much-needed concrete timeline for fans anticipating these cinematic continuations.

Disney signals continued investment in beloved franchises
The announcement builds on the success of the 2025 live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, which surpassed $1.03 billion worldwide. A review of that film at the time lauded it as a strong performer in Disney’s remake strategy, successfully capturing the emotional essence of the original.
Incredibles 3, revealed at D23 2024, has been linked to director Peter Sohn, known for Elemental, rather than Brad Bird, who helmed the first two installments. Incredibles 2, released in 2018, was praised for its strong narrative and the Parr family’s dynamic. Critics at the time highlighted how Bird successfully recaptured the spirit of the original while embracing the family’s core strengths.
During the meeting, newly appointed CEO Josh D’Amaro, who succeeded Bob Iger just yesterday, also reflected on the legacy of Toy Story, emphasizing its cultural impact. D'Amaro highlighted the franchise's pervasive presence across Disney properties, from Disney+ and consumer products to theme parks and cruise ships.
The unveiling of these dates confirms Disney's commitment to leveraging its established franchises and expanding its cinematic universe. The company’s strategy hinges on familiar properties, a calculated move in a shifting entertainment landscape.
The future of immersive entertainment at Disney Parks was also touched upon, with a glimpse into next-generation robotic figures, offering a preview of what’s to come.
