Disney unveils first look at live-action moana reboot
Disney has dropped the first trailer for its upcoming live-action remake of Moana, giving fans their first glimpse at Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's return as demigod Maui. The trailer showcases a faithful adaptation of the 2016 animated hit, featuring scenes that appeared in the original.

The film, out July 10, 2026, sees newcomer Catherine Laga'aia take on the titular role of Moana, who sets sail beyond her island home to restore prosperity to her people with Maui's help.
Johnson, who reprises his Maui role, is joined by original songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda, with Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina also contributing to the film's score.
Moana's executive producers include Auli'i Cravalho, who voiced the character in the animated film, alongside director Thomas Kail, Scott Sheldon, and Charles Newirth. Producers include Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Miranda.
