Hbo max drops first trailer for harry potter series

HBO Max has officially unveiled the first trailer for its forthcoming Harry Potter series, which is set to premiere this Christmas in 2026 - a full year ahead of its initially planned early 2027 debut.

Trailer reaction: a mixed bag

The highly anticipated adaptation, based on J.K. Rowling's beloved novels, has sparked a divisive response from fans. While some have praised the darker visual aesthetic and Dominic McLaughlin's portrayal of Harry Potter, others have criticized the series for lacking innovation and feeling unnecessary given the existing film franchise.

A few notable critics have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts. 'The new Harry Potter series looks like a rehash of the Movies with worse production values,' tweeted @amouteruhs. Meanwhile, @hcf_m2h offered a more positive assessment, writing, 'Just watched the Harry Potter series trailer and I'm so here for it! The darker tone and visual style are amazing.'

As the series gears up for its December launch, it remains to be seen which camp will ultimately prevail - those who view the adaptation as a redundant retread or those who see it as an exciting new take on the magical world.
