K-pop demon hunters mania sweeps the nation as rare merchandise draws insane resale prices

The latest craze to take over popular culture is the animated Netflix series 'Las guerreras k-pop', which has been a massive hit since its release. Despite premiering over a year ago, the show continues to dominate Netflix's top weekly charts, with merchandise and collaborations still pouring in.

K-pop demon hunters' mcdonald's promotions drive resale frenzy

The most notable tie-in is with fast-food giant McDonald's, offering two special menus - the Happy Meal featuring the HUNTR/X characters and a breakfast set with the Saja Boys. However, the real prize for collectors is the interlocking card set that comes with purchasing either menu.

The collection boasts 13 cards with varying levels of rarity: five exclusive to the HUNTR/X menu, seven from the Saja Boys, and one common card that is actually the rarest of them all. Each member of the HUNTR/X and Saja Boys has their own common card (1 diamond), while Rumi and Jino feature unique holographic cards (3 diamonds). The ultra-rare card, representing a heart, shows Rumi and Jino joining hands, and can appear in both menus.

Unfortunately, the success of 'Las guerreras k-pop' is mimicking the infamous Pokémon Burgerchu promotion, with resellers scooping up the menus to flip the cards for exorbitant prices on eBay, such as Rumi and Jino's holographic cards selling for $100 each. This mirrors the canceled collaboration that resulted in wasted food due to resellers only wanting the cards.
