Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie has bounced back with a significant box office boost over the Easter weekend, catapulting its global haul to a respectable $372.4 million.

Despite initially underperforming and trailing behind the original Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $1.36 billion, the Illumination-Nintendo animated feature has managed to close the gap.

Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie, which opened on April 1, now sits in fourth place in the 2026 box office rankings, trailing only Disney's Proyecto Salvación ($420.7 million) and Pixar's Hoppers ($512.5 million). The Chinese film Pegasus 3 takes the top spot with a massive $609 million to date.

With several weekends still to come, the Mario sequel has a chance to approach or even match the $375 million achieved by its predecessor within a similar timeframe. Ultimately, its final tally will depend on sustained audience interest and strong word-of-mouth.
