Scrubs returns: beloved sitcom revived after nine-year hiatus

After years of fervent anticipation, Scrubs is back. Disney Plus has greenlit a revival of the beloved sitcom, reuniting fans with iconic characters and offering a chance to possibly redeem the divisive ninth season.

The series, created by Bill Lawrence, returns with Zach Braff as J.D. Dorian, Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, Donald Faison as Christopher Turk, Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa, and John C. McGinley as Perry Cox. Even Neil Flynn, who played the Janitor, will make a guest appearance.

While the revival is already airing in the United States to overwhelmingly positive reviews – a 90% score from critics and 95% from audiences – Spanish audiences will have to wait until March 25th to stream the new episodes on Disney Plus.

Lawrence has expressed hope for a second season, stating that he and the creative team are eager to explore further storylines. One significant hurdle they're attempting to overcome is the absence of Ken Jenkins, who portrayed Dr. Bob Kelso. Logistical issues prevented Jenkins's participation in this season, but Lawrence hasn't ruled out his return should the show be renewed.

The revival’s success hinges on Disney’s decision, but the initial reception suggests a strong possibility of more Scrubs. The show’s enduring appeal speaks to a desire for comfort and humor, a potent combination in today's often-turbulent world. Disney’s investment underscores this sentiment.
