For years, eagle-eyed fans have noticed striking resemblances between Rosalina, the guardian of the cosmos introduced in 2007's Super Mario Galaxy, and Peach, the iconic princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Even more perplexing was the uncanny likeness between Rosalina’s mother and Peach herself. The film, according to Miyamoto, provides the definitive answer.
“When we were preparing the game, we had a vague idea of what this relationship would be,” Miyamoto told Forbes. “We talked about it a lot, but we didn't reach a conclusion.” The film, it seems, gave the creative team the space to flesh out this connection in a way previously impossible.
