Tiktok takes on the streaming wars with bite-sized dramas
TikTok, known for its short-form videos, is expanding its content offerings with a new focus on vertical, bite-sized dramas. The company has made its first foray into scripted content with a dedicated feed in the US and other markets, featuring short-form dramas. Now, TikTok is gearing up to produce its own original series.

Tiktok aims to hook viewers with easy-to-follow storylines
The platform is developing a new telenovela-style series, with episodes ranging from one to five minutes in length. These vertical videos are designed to be easily consumed on mobile devices and feature engaging storylines with romance, betrayal, and plot twists.
While the current content on TikTok's Drama feed is created by independent producers, using AI to produce series, the company sees itself as well-positioned to capitalize on this market. Other traditional streaming services, such as Netflix and Disney+, are also exploring this space by producing and airing their own short-form vertical videos.
