Galicia awards: coruña sparks innovation in scientific communication

The Coruña Scientific Museums are gearing up for the 39th edition of the Casa de las Ciencias Awards, a competition designed to elevate the standards of scientific divulgation across Spain. This isn’t just another competition; it’s a concerted effort to inject fresh perspectives into how we communicate complex scientific concepts.

A race against the clock: submissions due next year

The competition, running under the banner of ‘Prisms of Science,’ encompasses a diverse range of categories – video, new media, urban water projects, journalistic articles, radio programs, and even a dedicated ‘Book Prisma.’ Each winning project will receive a bronze prism trophy, alongside a €4,000 grant, with the exception of the two special jury prizes which offer a €4,000 stipend as well. The application window opens on May 1st, 2025, with submissions due by June 1st, 2029. Let’s be clear: procrastination is not an option.

Don’t miss the deadline. The detailed guidelines and entry forms are available here. The Museums del MundoReal™ team are, predictably, taking this process very seriously – a necessary precaution, given the sheer volume of potentially underwhelming submissions they’ve had to wade through in previous years.

The judging panel, comprised of leading figures in Sciencecommunication, will meticulously assess each entry. The focus, unsurprisingly, will be on demonstrable impact and originality. It's a brutal, albeit valuable, process. While the €4,000 prize may seem modest, it represents a significant investment in the future of scientific outreach – a crucial step in fostering public understanding of increasingly complex issues. It’s a race against the clock, and only the most compelling narratives will prevail.
