Ishowspeed and one piece co-showrunner team up for animated series
The streaming world is about to get a serious dose of anime, thanks to an unlikely partnership between YouTube sensation IShowSpeed and veteran animation executive Matt Owens. Big Shot Pictures, the production company founded by former Paramount co-CEO Brian Robbins, is developing a new series featuring an animated version of the speedster himself.
A wild card animated debut
Details remain shrouded in secrecy – the plot, the characters, the release date – but the project is already generating buzz. Owens, previously a key co-showrunner on the successful ‘One Piece’ live-action adaptation, is leading the creative charge, with Robbins and Harmony Korine – director of ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ – also attached to the production as producers.
IShowSpeed, known for his chaotic and intensely engaging IRL streams and gaming content, initially exploded onto the digital scene in the late 2010s. His rapid ascent, fueled by a dedicated fanbase, culminated in him becoming a recognizable face within the streaming ecosystem by 2022. This venture marks a significant departure – a deep dive into narrative storytelling, a surprisingly mature move for the perpetually energetic streamer.

Speed’s passion fuels the project
“I’ve always loved anime, so being able to create something like this is a dream come true for me,” IShowSpeed stated in a recent Variety interview. “The team behind this project is incredibly talented, and I can’t wait for my fans around the world to see what we’re building together.” It’s a sentiment echoed by Robbins, who described IShowSpeed as “a one-of-a-kind creative force whose ability to connect with audiences transcends borders and platforms.”
While the project is currently slated for a 2026 release, the news underscores a broader trend: the continued blurring of lines between online personalities and traditional entertainment. This isn't just another streamer attempting a foray into media; it’s a collaboration with a proven animation veteran, signaling a level of seriousness rarely seen in the world of digital content.
A new chapter for a rising star
Despite his recent viral moments, including the controversial AI deepfake campaign, IShowSpeed’s dedicated fanbase remains fiercely loyal. This anime project appears to be a calculated move – a chance to solidify his legacy and demonstrate a range beyond the usual chaotic streams. The industry will be watching closely to see if this unlikely pairing can deliver a truly groundbreaking animated series.
