Amazon's latest firmware update for Kindle devices brings significant improvements to the PDF reading experience. Long a thorn in the side of users, the inability to fully utilize PDFs on Kindles has finally been addressed.

Pdf functionality now par with e-books

The most notable change is the activation of features previously unavailable for PDFs, such as selecting text, underlining, and leaving notes. This brings the functionality of PDFs on Kindles in line with how users interact with e-books.

Additionally, Amazon has enhanced navigation within PDFs, resulting in a smoother overall reading experience. This update is available for all Kindle devices and requires a software update to firmware version 5.19.3.

Color kindles get a boost

Color Kindle models, including the Kindle Scribe and Colorsoft variants, now support PDF color compatibility. This ensures PDFs display optimally, taking full advantage of the devices' color capabilities.

While some users have reported minor issues with the update, Amazon claims to have addressed the majority of problems previously encountered. The 5.19.3 update is rolling out to devices via WiFi and can be manually downloaded from the Amazon Spain website for those yet to receive it.
