Crimson desert's lack of customization sparks modding community's response

Criticisms of Crimson Desert's rigid character selection system have been a common refrain since the game's launch. Players are limited to playing as pre-defined characters, with little to no customization options. However, modding community member Khione95 has stepped in to offer a solution with the release of a character creator mod.

More freedom in crimson desert's modded world

The Character Creator - Female mod allows players to build their own characters using the game's barber function. The mod includes 98 face presets and 159 hairstyles, giving users a fair amount of creative control. A male version of the mod is reportedly in the works.

With the mod installed, players can enjoy the open-world action-adventure game as a custom female character using the female human preset. The mod also includes adjustments to armor to better fit the female form, as well as planned additions of more customization options, additional playable races, and a full suite of female animations.

The mod is still a work in progress, but it has been met with positive reactions from the community. Some fans have expressed confusion as to why developer Pearl Abyss didn't utilize the well-received character creator from their MMO, Black Desert Online, in Crimson Desert.
