Pearl abyss faces backlash over lack of intel arc support in crimson desert
Crimson Desert, the highly anticipated open-world RPG from Pearl Abyss, has run into controversy after it emerged the game does not support Intel's Arc graphics cards. A FAQ entry initially told players they could seek refunds if they had purchased the game expecting Arc support.
Intel claims longstanding efforts to support crimson desert
However, in a statement to IGN, Intel revealed it had been working with Pearl Abyss for several years to test, validate, and optimize support for its graphics across multiple generations, including Alchemist, Battlemage, Meteor Lake, and Lunar Lake.
The chipmaker further committed to future game support, saying its teams remain dedicated to helping studios deliver the best possible experience for all players, including the tens of millions using Intel graphics.

Ripple effect on budget gamers and laptops
The lack of support affects more than just those who own Intel Arc cards. It also impacts a significant number of people buying laptops with onboard graphics, many of which are expected to feature Intel's Panther Lake chips.
While integrated GPUs have traditionally fallen short for gaming, Panther Lake's performance has been impressive. Given Crimson Desert's scalability on other GPUs, it seems a no-brainer for the game to run on mobile Intel chips.
With Intel planning to bring Panther Lake to handheld gaming PCs in 2026, the omission of support is seen as a missed opportunity.
Pearl Abyss has since walked back the FAQ entry, stating it is working on compatibility and optimization for Intel Arc GPUs. While a timeline for the update has not been provided, the company is facing growing pressure to deliver.
